Home Sweet Home

Tuesday, 3 May 2011

Back in London again. Feels weird, you know when you've been away sleeping in a different bed, when you wake up the next day back in your own house it takes a while to realise where you are. What surprised me when I came home last night was that it didn't smell funny. I know it sounds weird, but you know when you been away for a while it smells different when you get back. I supposed its because all the doors are closed etc. Aaanyway, I wondered why it didn't and first I was worried someone might have been in my house. Then I saw I'd accidentally left a bowl of grapes in my bedroom. Obviously, because I've been away for a while they were a wee bit dry (Thought I'd save you from showing a picture of it). Some people leave dry flowers etc aka pout pourri around the house as an air freshener. Could that work with dry fruit as well?
Hmm...

Anyway, so I'm back in London. It feels weird but then again it always feels a bit strange in the beginning, it takes a while to readjust. Going to the gym this afternoon, haven't been for a while now since I've been away. I'm scared to admit it but I'm actually looking forward to it. Kinda. Or maybe I'm just jet lagged.

Goodbye Gothenburg!

¿Que Pasa?

Sunday, 1 May 2011

On Friday two gorgeous ladies and I had dinner at Que Pasa. The food and service was so bad, it was seriously a joke! If you ever visit Gothenburg- do not under any circumstances go there. Ha! Even though the food and drinks weren't good we still had a fun night. Keeping in touch with childhood/school friends is so important. They are the ones who know you best, they have been there through the ups and the downs and you will always have memories to cherish with them. Unfortunately it was the last night I could spend with my ladies, time is always tight when I come to visit Gothenburg and tomorrow I'm going back to London. Really wish I could stay longer this time.

The souerest Mojito I've ever had

The mussel dish sounded amazing on the menu but it was far too blaah

23

Last Sunday it was my fab friend Emelie's 23rd birthday. Because I'd kept my arrival to Gothenburg a secret I surprised her on her doorstep. It was a great night with lots of laughter and silliness. Emelie is someone I went to school with so it was great to catch up since we rarely get to see each other, with me living in London and her studying in Gothenburg.

Sweeeeeeaaats!

On Thursday my mum and I went to Heaven 23 for their famous prawn sandwiches west coast style.
Sitting next to the windows we enjoyed the sun set and the views of Gothenburg. Lovely!

Before There Was Gaga There Was Goo Goo

Some of my favorite tracks by Goo Goo Dolls. No, although 'Iris' is a great song you won't find it here.

Dare devil

Friday, 22 April 2011

I want to dance like a devil, sing like an angel and kiss like the girl I am. I want to wake up feeling weet morning grass under my bare feet as I run across the open field. I wan't to laugh at the things in my head, children and life. I wan't to stare evil in its eye, and then walk away. I want to enjoy what I've been given to the fullest and when I leave this world I want to feel that I've not missed a single breathe of life.

I'm A Human Not A Theme

Saturday, 16 April 2011

When people ask me who my favorite artist is I always give them the same answer; I haven't got one. I generally don't like singers, bands or albums. I like songs. I like individual tracks that stands out. I would hate to be so headstrong that I force myself to love a whole album or everything about an artist just because I enjoyed their previous work or because they are "in season". I personally don't think there is one artist out there, dead or alive, who hasn't made/sung one so so song. Some people get really offended when I say this. How can she NOT love EVERYTHING Beatles done?! Because not every song is perfect. To me. That's why my taste in music is so "confused". The old and oh so worn out 'I like a bit of everything' when it comes to music, is sadly so true. For me. I am really passionate about music. It gives me a real buzz to find a new track or even a few tracks by the same artist that not many people have heard. But that doesn't mean I don't like commercial stuff too. It's all about the beat and the feeling that song brings out in you. And because everyone’s different not everyone's going to appreciate the same stuff. But oh do I hate those who never try something different, the ones who will listen to their New Wave tracks every single day and just stick their nose up to anything mainstream. Or those who will only listen to scruffy unsigned indie bands, with an illegal substance addicted lead singer, a hairy drummer and a transsexual bass player. A song can help you through a tough time, it can make a moment in life more memorable, it can be the soundtrack of your life. This means I'm going to like a song by Mandy Moore, one by Alice Cooper and one by The Pretenders. Oh come on you art fascist snobs! Piss on that! Because if I like The Pretenders, I have to also like things by Blondie. Right? No I don't actually. Part from 'Call Me' and 'Maria'. Although I think Debbie Harry is a great pioneer within the female music industry. That is one thing you'll notice here, there's no obvious theme running through it, at least it won't be visible to anyone. There is no theme on the things I write either. I hate themes anyway. I'm a human not a theme. So go on and give it a go for yourself, if you're using a music download software be (part from careful) a bit adventurous the next time, or if you're using iTunes, just enter a particular word in the search field and see what kind of tracks that pops up and then download the ones that seem interesting, who knows, you might end up with a new favorite track. That’s not New Wave.

Now I'm going to have a prawn cocktail and listen to 'Voulez Vous'.

“Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who could not hear the music.”
